The Spa Habit

Would you believe? There's one addiction that is actually good for your mind and body and it's called SPA. Massage, aromatherapy, pampering, indulgence, soothing strokes, point pressure--these are some images that come to mind whenever I hear the word. Ever since I had my first massage (honestly I don't remember anymore when this habit started, few years back for sure) I know that this is something that I want to have on a regular basis.

Trying out different services in different locations will help you find your oasis. It's actually beneficial for you to try out different spas. As of last count, I've already tried several and am happy about this search. In fact this is the only search that I want to do for life.

If you're a newbie and don't really have an idea what spa to avail, here are suggestions:

Swedish massage--this the most basic of massage. Expect an hour of long strokes from toe to head. Your muscles will become relaxed soon enough and tight muscles will be immediately relieved from pain and aches. Instruct the masseuse to avoid the eye area if you're wearing contacts. The therapist will ask for your preference, whether you want it hard, medium or soft. Tell the massage therapist truthfully if you're uncomfortable with pressure. Too hard can make your body ache after the session. Feel what's right for you.

Alternative: Shiatsu is a pressure massage, so if you're the ticklish type, you may not want to have this service. You can always ask for the swedish/shiatsu combination just so you can experience both in one session.

Price: Ranges from 200 to 1500 pesos. You may also phone in and have this relaxing experience in your own bedroom.

Foot spa--If you don't have time for a whole body massage, this one's a good alternative. Foot spa is what facial is for the for the face. Some spas include foot scrub (most offer it separately). If you have it regularly, you won't only feel good, you can also expect good-looking footsies--soft, stronger, callous free and pinkish too.

Foot massage--This is the service dedicated to foot reflexology. While foot spa is part massage, part scrub, part cleaning, foot massage is all about unblocking good energies so that you'll feel better. It sure is a good stress buster.

These are the basic recommendations for first timers. More in the next post.

Mushroom For Good Health

Am not a doctor. I don't even know how to get blood pressure or read a thermometer. I am just a health conscious person who loves reading about supplements, vitamins and the latest health trend in the market. Am not all knowing though. I just believe that whatever works for me must be shared with my friends so that they can also benefit from it.

The latest in the long list of supplements that I tried is the Ganocelium and Reishi Gano by DXN. It is touted as a cleansing agent. It will flush out toxin and maintain general well being. I tried it and am a happy user.

First thing that I noticed is that my sleep has been deeper and I wake up feeling refreshed and relaxed. My appetite too has been regulated. I don't crave anymore for empty calories. I eat three full meals a day and that's it. All in all my body functions have been repaired and am good as new.
Don't take my word for it. You gotta try it yourself. Each body has different needs so it is your obligation to find what works best with yours.

Relief for Back Pain

My night job leaves me so tired by weekend. Most pronounced is my upper back pain and bouts of headache. I suspect it's because of stress, long hours in front of the computer and poor posture. And then there's eye strain.

I decided to take supplements. One of which is called Circulan. As the name suggests, it is taken with your regular diet to boost blood circulation. For an adult, you need to pop 2 soft gel capsules a day. Since am not really sickly, I only take one a day. After a week, I noticed that my calves which usually ache when I do long walks and when the weather gets cold, are better. And my sleep has been normalized. I just usually take four hours of sleep which I know is not sufficient to repair my cells but since I took this supplement, I sleep longer and deeper.

Taken with my regular vitamins, Revicon Forte (with amino acids and iron), even my menstruation becomes regular.

If you're in a stressful job, I suggest that you take supplements, be mindful of your diet and have a regular physical activity. When you reach balance, you're in for better health.

Do You Have Faith?

I spent the holy week at my parents' farm up north. Last year, we spent Good Friday in a resort. This year, we decided to stay away from the beaches and pools and instead went to a faith healer.

I am a free spirit. I read horoscopes. I indulge in tarot readings. Once, I even traveled 4 hours just to have a card reading. Geez. Am a junkie.

Well, this year, we had a different experience. My mother, her sister and my older brother had a healing session with a balikbayan healer. There's no special ritual so there's no need to think twice. As we entered a brightly lit room full of religious stuffs, I felt calm.

The healer is an 80-year-old woman. Amazingly, she can still kneel for a considerable amount of time and is in pretty good shape. You can even mistake her for a 60-year-old. It's obvious that she has aged gracefully.

She then massaged us with oil starting from the head down to the neck, the arms all the way to the feet. She told us that helping people through healing is her way of bringing something back for the good things that she has been blessed with in her life.
